Farsetto Medioevale... Medieval Jacket

Ho fatto un farsetto medioevale. This is a medieval jacket I made.

I made the paddings with thick thread, like those for denium. The padding serves to protect against blows during combat.

There are a set of buttonholes just under the waist back and front for attaching the tights.

The sleeves are padded at the shoulder. There are also buttonholes for attaching the armour.

To give a finishing touch, I stitched over the machine sewn buttonholes.

Tessuti: Lana
Fodera: Cottone
Bottoni: Argento
Imbottitura: Poliestere

Fabric: Wool
Lining: Cotton
Buttons: Silver
Padding: Polyester

wah Singapore ... damn stress!

roses from roby for our 1st wedding anniversary <3

Wah... what an intense 3 weeks in singapore. Cramming my social life into this short period and then back home in verona, with the long dry spell of nearly no daily human interaction (aside from husband and my in laws) ( which I actually prefer). After clearing some work I will be looking for some idiot part-time job.

This all feels like that french movie I saw years ago Le Feu Follet . Meeting old friends and realising you longer belong to this place nor are you part of their lives. They have changed, you have changed. Everybody is moving on.... with family and kids, married, single, straight, gay... doesn't matter anymore. Everyone is more settled, excepting the situation. Happy to see everyone but i have to go back to my country life soon.

Everything getting expensive, if i move here i have to be very careful with the money, take public transport and eat at home everyday. Life is definitely more intense here, well with more person packed into a square km compared to verona... it has to be.

The local culture is changing from 6years ago. Since culture has never been top priority anyway. It has always been money, more so today than when I left. It is more asian for sure, more chinese, filipinos, thais. I'm not staying here so i have no right to hate it. The beauty of culture if you allow it to change, give it a bit of time it could be good thing. So what if you end up with frakenstein, at least it's alive. If you try engineering it, it will become plastic and singapore will turn into a theme park. The money factor sometimes rob you of your common sense. That aside I think the situation is quite optimistic.

I was lucky enough to go to a political rally in woodlands on the thursday before polling. That was quite interesting. Roby remarked that it is a good start, but 20years behind the level of public participation in italian politics. "Why are the speakers so polite?" "Why are they talking about economic issues only?" I guess I still learning about politics. Isn't it strange that with that many people living here, there is hardly major strife going on. I think the answer is new immigrants hardly have any political power as individuals. If you are new in the country for 2 years, you think about surviving not about voting rights.

Venezia Aprile

Despite my bitching, Venice on a friday night was enjoyable. There wasn't the usual crowd. Nor the parties. So that was bearable. We (me and Roby) didn't know where we going, led by Ivan and Miro. Ivan a resident of Rialto. We were half drunk. Thanks to the bad wine, cold spring air and speed walking it was not possible to get really drunk. The night was short but sweet.

crowd at rialto

The next day we had a late breakfast. We were greeted by the weekend crowd at Rialto. urghhh... quite unavoidable. We went off to meet a friend in a very quiet corner of venice, (I won't say where ;P ) . We ate at a bar... aw the grilled squid was so good. Took a ride on the Ruf's boat. That was fun... We took a train back to verona in the evening.

Adventures in tailoring...

Phew! meno male ;)

Quatro diei = Quatro dita = four fingers = 10cm in tailoring terms ... (oh I see ;D )

Braghe = pantaloni = trousers ... (oh I see ;D )

Santa came by this morning. The same that gave a pandoro for a present for christmas. He has a name and a telephone number! He woke me up bright and early at 8.

Business as usual

In the afternoon I walked around sticking up notice for my clothes alteration services. All I got were a few prank callers ... kids from the sound of their voices . No thanks I don't need this kind of love.

Check out juunta's shop at etsy.

Creating the item for sale. In the meantime take a look at the bicycle pannier I made.

First listing- Bicycle bag/ pannier

This is my first listing on etsy, after much delay. This bicycle pannier is a result of a try out working with my brother. He wanted something sporty, sleek when we spoke about it. Then I forgot about the details because of my wedding and the craziness that followed. We went to Amsterdam for our honeymoon, there I saw the most beautiful bicycles I have ever seen, absolutely gorgeous.

Cycling was a way of life. They had those bags which I later learnt from my brother that they were called panniers. So I had this vision of creating a pannier that was attached to the back of the bicycle, you would ride everywhere. You could put your groceries in it, books, things for a picnic. Ohhhh and life would be so romantic.

I got back to my brother... he had a different idea of what he wanted. Something sportier. Opps... anyways what's done is done. It's not the easiest thing to put together so I am very happy that it is done.
